ONLINE COURSE TO PREPARE TEACHERS TO INTRODUCE ECDL COMPUTING MODULE LAUNCHED IN ITALY

AICA, the ECDL National Operator in Italy, launched a new online course for teachers, ‘Fare didattica con il coding’, on January 14. The course is aimed at teachers, and can support those who want to teach the ECDL Computing module to their stu

During the course, different stages of programming are highlighted, including problem analysis, design of a solution algorithm, implementation in a programming language, and testing and improvement. The course emphasises the importance of these stages in using problem solving activities with students.

The course has a duration of 8-weeks, and is organised as a ‘train the trainer’ project. It requires around 50 hours of commitment from teachers, and provides participants with content to help them better explain the ECDL Computing module to their students.

Participants are offered ad-hoc video lessons, a selection of manuals and video tutorials freely available on the internet, activities, discussion forums and support from tutors. Furthermore, ECDL Computing simulations have been prepared in both Python and Scratch environments.

In this first edition, about 350 teachers are enrolled and AICA is already collecting enrolments for the second edition that will be launched in March 2019.
